11 Convenient Lies

A British court has found eleven falsehoods in Al Gore's mock-umentary "An Inconvenient Truth."

1. The film claims that melting snows on Mount Kilimanjaro evidence global warming. The Government's expert was forced to concede that this is not correct.
2. The film suggests that evidence from ice cores proves that rising CO2 causes temperature increases over 650,000 years. The Court found that the film was misleading: over that period the rises in CO2 lagged behind the temperature rises by 800-2000 years.
   
3. The film uses emotive images of Hurricane Katrina and suggests that this has been caused by global warming. The Government's expert had to accept that it was "not possible" to attribute one-off events to global warming.
   
4. The film shows the drying up of Lake Chad and claims that this was caused by global warming. The Government's expert had to accept that this was not the case.
   
5. The film claims that a study showed that polar bears had drowned due to disappearing arctic ice. It turned out that Mr. Gore had misread the study: in fact four polar bears drowned and this was because of a particularly violent storm.
   
6. The film threatens that global warming could stop the Gulf Stream throwing Europe into an ice age: the Claimant's evidence was that this was a scientific impossibility.
   
7. The film blames global warming for species losses including coral reef bleaching. The Government could not find any evidence to support this claim.
   
8. The film suggests that the Greenland ice covering could melt causing sea levels to rise dangerously. The evidence is that Greenland will not melt for millennia.
   
9. The film suggests that the Antarctic ice covering is melting, the evidence was that it is in fact increasing.
   
10. The film suggests that sea levels could rise by 7m causing the displacement of millions of people. In fact, the evidence is that sea levels are expected to rise by about 40cm over the next hundred years and that there is no such threat of massive migration.
    
11. The film claims that rising sea levels has caused the evacuation of certain Pacific islands to New Zealand. The Government are unable to substantiate this and the Court observed that this appears to be a false claim.

A Hypocritical Truth

According to a NASA report, the polar ice caps on Mars are melting. Who's to blame there, Al Gore? Martians flying gas-guzzling UFOs? Smog emmissions from the Mars, Inc. factory?

Could "global warming" just be natural? That's if "global warming" actually exists.

NASA GISS data shows that Earth's south pole as DECREASED in temperature by 1 degree F. since 1957.

Patrick J. Michaels, a professor of environmental science, says that, "carbon dioxide is increasing in the atmosphere at a rate below that of most climate-change scenarios because it is being increasingly captured by growing vegetation." Another expert on environmental science, Richard Lindzen says, "We don't have any evidence that this [ global warming ] is a serious problem."

The Leipzig Declaration, which is signed by 80 academics and 25 weather analysts, believe that the theory of "global warming" is "based solely on unproven scientific theories, imperfect computer models - and the unsupported assumptions that catastrophic global warming follows from the burning of fossil fuels and requires immediate action. We do not agree. We believe that the dire predictions of a future warming have not been validated by the existing climate record. These predictions are based on nothing more than theoretical models and cannot be relied on."

The Declaration also says, "it has become increasingly clear that – contrary to the conventional wisdom - there does not exist today a general scientific consensus about the importance of greenhouse warming from rising levels of carbon dioxide. In fact, many climate specialists now agree that actual observations from weather satellites show no global warming whatsoever - in direct contradiction to computer model results."

Politicizing "global warming" even though it's existence is doubted, is purely unethical. If "global warming" doesn't exist, then maybe that's why Al Gore doesn't mind living in a house that eats up energy more than the average home and flying around in a private jet (the same private jet he criticizes in his pseudo-documentary film).

"A Tale of Two Houses"

House #1: A 20 room mansion ( not including 8 bathrooms ) heated by natural gas. Add on a pool ( and a pool house) and a separate guesthouse, all heated by gas. In one month, this residence consumes more energy than the average American household does in a year. The average bill for electricity and natural gas runs over $2400 per month. In natural gas (a fossil fuel) alone, this property consumes more than 20 times the national average for an American home. This house is not situated in a Northern or Midwestern "snow belt" area. It's in the South.















House #2: Designed by an architecture professor at a leading national university. This house incorporates every "green" feature current home construction can provide. The house is 4,000 square feet ( 4 bedrooms ) and is nestled on a high prairie in the American southwest. A central closet in the house holds geothermalheat-pumps drawing ground water through pipes sunk 300 feet into the ground. The water (usually 67 degrees F. ) heats the house in the winter and cools it in the summer. The system uses no fossil fuels such as oil or natural gas and it consumes one-quarter electricity required for a conventional heating/cooling system. Rainwater from the roof is collected and funneled into a 25,000 gallon underground cistern. Wastewater from showers, sinks and toilets goes into underground purifying tanks and then into the cistern. The collected water then irrigates the land surrounding the house. Surrounding flowers and shrubs native to the area enable the property to blend into the surrounding rural landscape.

- HOUSE #1 is outside of Nashville, Tennessee; it is the abode of the "environmentalist" Al Gore.
- HOUSE #2 is on a ranch near Crawford, Texas; it is the residence of the President of the United States, George W. Bush.
